Operation Epic Fury
As of early this morning on February 28 2026 the United States and Israel have launched a massive air campaign against the Iranian regime. Operation Epic Fury is currently hitting IRGC headquarters and military assets across Iran. Predictably the congressional professional fundraising caucus is already out in force. There are some who are screaming about the War Powers Act and claiming the President lacks the authority for these strikes.
They are wrong. The law is clear even if they find it politically inconvenient. You do not have to like the policy to admit it is legal. These same members of Congress had a trifecta of power in 2023 and did nothing to change the law. Politicians keep the status quo because they want their guy to have the same power later. They prefer fundraising off the noise to actually fixing the problem.
The Iranian Response and Regional Reality
Iran did not wait to respond. This morning they launched waves of missiles at US bases in Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. They also targeted the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. This is not just a regional spat. This is a regime that has spent decades preparing to kill Americans.
Saudi Arabia has now stated they are joining the offensive against Iran. This is a massive shift in the Middle East. It shows that even the neighbors who once feared Iranian retaliation have decided the status quo is no longer survivable. They see what we should have seen long ago: you cannot negotiate with a snake that is already biting you.
The Web of Terror
The Iranian regime is the largest state supporter of terrorism in the world. They fund the groups that kill American soldiers and destabilize global trade.
| Terror Group | Primary Region | Iranian Support Level |
| Hezbollah | Lebanon and Global | Full funding and missile tech |
| Hamas | Gaza | Financial and military aid |
| The Houthis | Yemen | Drones and ballistic missiles |
| Kata’ib Hezbollah | Iraq | Direct IRGC proxy group |
| Islamic Jihad | Palestine | Near total dependence on Tehran |
A Legacy of American Blood
Since the 1979 revolution the Iranian regime has been responsible for the deaths of over 1000 American service members and civilians. This is not ancient history. It is an ongoing war conducted through proxies and direct action.
| Conflict or Event | American Deaths | Regime Involvement |
| Iraq Insurgency | 608+ | Provided IEDs and training |
| Beirut Barracks (1983) | 241 | Directed by Hezbollah and Iran |
| Khobar Towers (1996) | 19 | IRGC planned and funded |
| Recent Proxy Attacks | Dozens | Ongoing drone and rocket fire |
The Murder of Iranian Citizens
The regime exports death because they have no other way to maintain power. If the citizens of Iran had a Second Amendment the Islamic leadership would have been gone years ago. Instead the people are defenseless against a government that uses mass executions to stay in control.
By some estimates the regime has murdered over 30000 of its own citizens since the latest round of protests began. They use live ammunition and drones against their own schools and neighborhoods. This is who the “anti war” crowd is defending when they complain about the legality of a strike.
No More Binary Choices
The status quo meant Iran continues to fund Russia with oil and munitions for the war in Ukraine. It meant supporting Chinese expansion and keeping the Middle East in a state of permanent chaos.
Leadership means taking the hard path to effect positive change for the long term. You can choose to allow this cycle of terror to continue or you can cut the head off the snake. Sending pallets of cash failed. Diplomacy failed. If you have the chance to end the largest supporter of global terror wouldn’t you take it?
