The Arsonists Want to be the Heroes
On this episode of the Mission Ready Men Briefing, we cut through yet another round of political performance, institutional hypocrisy, and elite panic masquerading as “saving democracy.”
One of the biggest flashpoints came out of Virginia, where Democrats reacted to a redistricting defeat in court by openly discussing ways to reshape the court itself.
When the Rules Stop Working
The Virginia Supreme Court struck down a Democrat-backed redistricting referendum after ruling that lawmakers intentionally misled voters and failed to follow the constitutional amendment process correctly.
Instead of accepting the ruling and regrouping politically, activists immediately began discussing a proposal to force older justices off the bench and potentially reopen the case later with a newly configured court. All under the guise of “saving democracy.”
Think about how insane that actually sounds.
The same political movement that spent years warning Americans about ‘threats to democracy’ suddenly becomes very comfortable discussing institutional redesign the moment democracy produces an outcome they don’t like.
Americans are starting to recognize the pattern.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles…
Out west, Karen Bass faces mounting backlash over the aftermath of the devastating Los Angeles fires. Rebuilding efforts are at a near-complete standstill months later.
Media personality Spencer Pratt, whose home was destroyed in the fires, has become one of Bass’ loudest and most effective critics, repeatedly hammering the mayor over what many residents view as failed leadership and bureaucratic paralysis.
The political class keeps insisting everything is under control while ordinary people stare at ash, rubble, delays, and excuses.
That disconnect keeps growing.
The Bigger Pattern
Whether it’s redistricting fights, institutional maneuvering, or disaster recovery failures, Americans are waking up to the reality that the people running these systems operate under a completely different set of rules.
And when those systems fail, the response rarely, if ever, involves accountability.
It usually involves shifting blame, changing the narrative, changing the standards, or changing the referees.
