Thank you to all of our Veterans who raised their hand and took the oath to defend this nation.
To our beloved veterans:
From the Lexington Battle Green, through two world wars, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, and every operation carried out today, it has always been you who raised your hand and took the oath to:
“support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
While the oath has changed throughout our history, your dedication and commitment to this country have not. Your bravery and sacrifice have endured war, conflict, and the political turmoil at home that often followed. Through every challenge, every shift on the battlefield, every obstacle both physical and emotional, you lived up to that oath.
You put country above all else, including yourself.
You are special. You are honored. You are our veterans. And not a single day passes when this nation is not grateful.
Please know that no matter what TV headlines chase, whatever politicians try to sell, and whatever a loud minority spits from their repugnant mouths online, you are respected and appreciated by the people who understand the selfless commitment you made to the nation.
Today is the day the country pauses to pay tribute to you on a national level. A day to remember and be thankful. Today may be the holiday, but it does not mean you are not revered every other day as well.
Thank you for all that you did and all that you do.
With eternal gratitude,
