SHR Media honors the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps.
A Nation Remembers the Day You Were Born
Happy Birthday, Marine.
I remember the day you first opened your eyes. You were small but fierce with a spark that told me you were meant for hard things. Even as a young devil dog you stood straight with a sense of purpose that belonged to warriors and not to children. I watched you take your first steps with a musket in your hands and resolve in your heart.
Growing Up Fast in a Dangerous World
You grew quickly because you had to. The world was already rough and you were needed long before you were grown. Soon you were marching to the halls of Montezuma and charging to the shores of Tripoli. You were young yet you fought with the strength of a seasoned soldier. You learned the terrain of foreign lands before you ever learned the meaning of fear. Your courage was not built by age. It was built by spirit.

Forged by Fire in the Wars That Shaped History
As you grew older you faced trials that would have broken many. You stormed beaches under fire. You climbed volcanic rock in the shadow of death. Iwo Jima carved your name into the heart of this nation. I watched you raise that flag and in that moment I knew the child I once held had become a man whose strength could carry a country.
You fought through the jungles of the Pacific. You froze through Korea. You endured the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan. You stood watch in places where freedom was nothing more than a whispered hope. Each time you returned taller and wiser with scars that told stories no words could capture. You stood ready for the next call before the last battle ended.

The Marines Above and the Marines at Sea
You never stood alone. Your pilots carved honor into the sky with every flight. Your Marines aboard naval ships held the line far beyond the horizon. You adapted to new technology and new tools without losing the grit that made you who you are. You became a force that combines the strength of the past with the precision of the future.
A Quarter Millennium of Honor
Two hundred and fifty years. A quarter of a millennium. I have watched you through every age. I have seen you defend me when I was too weak to defend myself. I have seen you lift others from darkness. I have seen you stand firm when the world became cold and uncertain.
You have never failed me, Marine. Not once.
The Weight You Carry and the Fallen You Remember
I saw your burdens. I saw the miles you march. I saw the nights you miss home. I know some of your brothers and sisters paid the ultimate price. I hold their names close and I remember every one.
A Nation Says Thank You
Let this old man say what he has whispered for generations.
Thank you for every mile traveled.
Thank you for every battle fought.
Thank you for every night you stood guard while others slept in safety.
Thank you for keeping your promise.
I am proud of you every single day.
And though I speak to you like a grandfather to a grandson you should know the truth. I am not only an old man.
We Are That Old Man
I am your nation.
I am the United States of America and I have watched you grow from a defiant child into the greatest fighting force the world has ever known.
Happy 250th Birthday, Marine
