I wish it were more surprising when I see posts like this on X:

It’s no longer surprising that the campaign claiming Trump/Vance are a threat to our republic is also calling for the end of the Electoral College. After all, why let ‘equal representation’ – a system that’s worked for centuries – get in the way of transforming the nation? If you’re trying to establish a socialist utopia, hijacking an already-established country with infrastructure and taxpayer-funded resources makes sense. As I’ve said before, those in power eventually reveal their true intentions – and Walz has done so again.

The electoral college is necessary to ensure that the interests of rural farmers are represented, not just the densely populated urban areas. Eliminating it would give undue influence to population centers, ignoring the voices of rural communities that you claim to care about, Mr. Chairman. These are the very people you purport to represent, yet they would have no say if the electoral college were abolished. Your proposal to eliminate this system is an attempt to consolidate power and impose an authoritarian government, not serve the best interests of the country as a whole.

Who is a threat to our Republic again?
