Holy smokes. They are really going to do this again.

Once more, Democrats are openly threatening to shut down the federal government. Just like before, they are already preparing to blame Republicans. They are actively creating the chaos.

This time, the threat comes in the wake of the Minneapolis ICE shooting. Democrats are weaponizing a tragedy to push an agenda they have wanted for years. Their goal is crippling ICE and DHS through funding extortion.

The Same Playbook, Every Time

After the Minneapolis shooting involving an ICE agent, Democrats quickly shifted their position. They moved from calls for investigation to outright threats of a government shutdown. Progressive lawmakers are now signaling a firm stance. They want ICE and DHS funding to be dramatically altered or restricted. Otherwise, they are willing to let the government close its doors by the end of January.

Justice is not the goal.
Facts are irrelevant to their strategy.
Leverage is the only priority.

And Americans have seen this movie before.

Angie Craig Joins the Shutdown Chorus

Minnesota Representative Angie Craig weighed in publicly. She made it clear she supports using the budget process to force changes to ICE operations. While carefully avoiding the words “shutdown,” the message is unmistakable: follow Democrat demands or suffer the consequences.

This tactic deliberately places federal workers on the chopping block. It also jeopardizes national security, border enforcement, and public services. The goal is to score political points.

Schumer and Senate Democrats Escalate

Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, are now threatening to block DHS and ICE funding entirely unless Republicans cave. Democrats control powerful procedural tools when it suits them. Yet, they are once again pretending they are helpless victims of Republican obstruction.

They are not.

They are choosing confrontation.

Shutdown Now, Blame Later

Democrats know exactly how this works.First, they threaten a shutdown to create leverage. Next, negotiations are deliberately stalled to increase pressure. Then, compromise is abandoned altogether once the media narrative is locked in.Then they sprint to the cameras to accuse Republicans of “refusing to govern.”

It is a strategy built on bad faith and media cover.

And they are betting that voters will forget the pattern.

Here Is the Hard Truth

A shutdown over ICE would be a deliberate choice by Democrats, not an accident.
Federal workers missing paychecks would be the direct result of Democrats prioritizing political theater over responsibility.
Any weakening of national security would stem from Democrats placing ideology above stability.

Republicans are not forcing this showdown. Democrats are manufacturing it.

Final Thought

Democrats are once again standing on the edge of a government shutdown and pretending someone else pushed them there. Americans are tired of the theatrics, tired of the threats, and tired of watching Washington burn itself down for headlines.
