President Trump announced Friday morning that Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following days of cross border violence that included airstrikes and a deadly roadside bombing.
In a public statement, President Trump said he spoke directly with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. According to Trump, both governments agreed to halt all shooting effective Friday evening and return to the original peace framework negotiated during his previous administration.

Ceasefire Agreement Reached
President Trump stated that both Thailand and Cambodia agreed to cease all hostilities and revert to the peace agreement originally brokered with U.S. involvement, with assistance from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The announcement follows renewed fighting along the Thailand Cambodia border earlier this week. That violence included a roadside bomb attack that killed and wounded Thai soldiers and prompted a strong military response from Thailand.
Trump described the bombing as an accident but acknowledged that Thailand retaliated forcefully following the attack.
Malaysia’s Role in Mediation
Trump credited Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim with assisting in the negotiations that led to the ceasefire. Malaysia has previously served as a regional mediator in Southeast Asian disputes, particularly within ASEAN frameworks.
According to Trump, the involvement of Malaysia helped prevent the situation from escalating into a broader regional conflict.
Trade and Stability Emphasized
In his statement, Trump said both governments expressed readiness to pursue peace and continue trade relations with the United States. He framed the agreement as preventing what could have become a major war between two otherwise stable and prosperous nations.
No independent confirmation from the Thai or Cambodian governments has yet been released regarding the full terms of the ceasefire. As of publication, neither government has issued a formal statement confirming the timing or enforcement mechanisms of the agreement.
Background
The ceasefire announcement follows renewed border clashes reported earlier this week, including Thai airstrikes and military mobilization along disputed areas. Those events marked one of the most serious escalations between the two nations in years.
