Senator Ruben Gallego is under heavy scrutiny after leaked text messages reportedly show him mocking the appearance, culture and direction of his own party. The messages, published by Human Events and circulated widely online, contain harsh criticism of Democratic men, Democratic women and the party’s overall image.

In the leaked exchange, a sender told Gallego the Democratic Party needed stronger leadership. Gallego allegedly replied, “Oh man have you met my party? I have been yelling at them this whole time.”

The conversation escalated when the sender shared a meme mocking Rep. Rosa DeLauro. Gallego responded, “They aren’t wrong!” He went on to describe Democrats as the “not fun party,” saying the party constantly lectures people and has lost any sense of cultural excitement.

The most explosive line came when Gallego reportedly wrote, “Dem women look like Dem men and Dem men look like women.” The remark has drawn immediate backlash for being demeaning and reinforcing internal divisions at a time when the party already struggles with its public image.

Gallego also lamented that Democrats no longer allow “men to be men” or “women to be hot,” claiming the party once had the cultural energy of “sex drugs and rock and roll” but has since replaced it with rigid political correctness. As of publication, Gallego has not issued a formal denial or clarification.
