Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared that Democrats are ready to “clear the way” for passage of a government funding bill — but only if it includes a clean, one-year extension of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits. This demand is central to Schumer’s ACA tax credit strategy.
Schumer said Senate Republicans should “add a clean one-year extension of the ACA tax credits to the continuing resolution so that we can immediately address rising health care costs.” The statement signals Democrats are linking the short-term funding fight to a broader push to preserve ACA subsidies before they expire.
