In a startling new report, the Department of Homeland Security announced that threats of lethal violence against agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have surged by 8,000 percent in fiscal year 2025.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said ICE law enforcement personnel are facing unprecedented danger as online and in-person threats continue to rise. Agents are now regularly subjected to doxxing, stalking, and targeted harassment campaigns, including documented cases of cash bounties being offered for their deaths.
“Our ICE law enforcement officers are now facing an eight-thousand percent increase in death threats,” McLaughlin said. “They risk their lives every single day to remove the worst of the worst from our communities.”
Among the examples cited by DHS were instances where individuals publicly posted rewards for the killing of ICE agents, and where officers’ families received threatening calls and messages referencing Nazi Germany. Officials said that rhetoric comparing ICE to “Gestapo” units has contributed to the rise in hostility and violent sentiment toward law enforcement.

DHS leadership condemned the surge of threats, warning that attacks against any federal law enforcement officers will be met with full prosecution. “If you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said.
The department also reported a related increase in physical assaults, vehicle attacks, and other acts of violence against ICE personnel and facilities. DHS officials said they are reviewing security protocols and coordination with other agencies to better protect officers and their families.
