Reports are coming in this morning regarding a shooting in Minneapolis. Federal agents shot a man during an incident today. The suspect was allegedly armed.
The Report
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin broke the details on X. He cited multiple law enforcement sources. He confirmed a Border Patrol involved shooting took place near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue.
Agents shot the person during the confrontation. Melugin reports the suspect is down. Medics are working on him right now.
The most critical detail is the weapon. Melugin reports that authorities recovered a firearm from the suspect at the scene after the shooting.
The Video Evidence
Video footage of the incident is already circulating on social media. A widely shared cell phone video released by Intel Point Alert shows the moments leading up to the shots.
The video shows numerous federal agents engaging with an individual on a sidewalk. They attempted to bring the man to the ground to detain him. A physical confrontation ensued.
The video shows the struggle continuing until agents created distance between themselves and the suspect. An agent then fired shots.
Current Status
UPDATE: Fatality Confirmed Authorities have confirmed that the individual shot by federal agents Saturday morning near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue has died from his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37. While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) states that agents fired “defensive shots” after Pretti allegedly refused to disarm, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara has since indicated that Pretti appeared to be a lawful gun owner with a valid permit to carry and no significant criminal history.
