DHS reports a 68 percent surge in website traffic as thousands access the Trump administration’s CBP Home app for voluntary departure.

The Department of Homeland Security has reported a dramatic increase in public engagement with its online services. Website traffic surged 68 percent. This occurred amid the growing use of the Trump administration’s voluntary departure program.
According to Fox News, DHS recorded more than 102 million page views and approximately 67 million unique visitors in 2025. These numbers are up sharply from the previous year. Officials say much of that increase is tied directly to heightened interest in immigration enforcement resources and the CBP Home mobile application.
The app, retooled under Donald Trump, allows individuals unlawfully present in the United States to initiate voluntary self-deportation rather than face formal removal proceedings. DHS officials say thousands have accessed the platform to explore or begin that process.
DHS Says Traffic Reflects Policy Impact
A DHS spokesperson described the surge in web traffic as a reflection of “one of the most consequential periods of action and reform in American history.” The spokesperson pointed to strengthened border enforcement and expanded public-facing digital tools.
The CBP Home app, formerly known as CBP One, was redesigned in early 2025 to remove asylum scheduling features and instead emphasize voluntary departure. DHS reports that pages explaining this option have become some of the most frequently visited sections of the agency’s website.
Incentives for Voluntary Departure
As part of the program, DHS has confirmed that individuals who complete the voluntary departure process may receive travel assistance and a stipend of up to $1,000. Officials argue the approach reduces enforcement costs while encouraging compliance with immigration law.
The administration has framed the initiative as an orderly and humane alternative to detention and forced removal. Meanwhile, critics argue the program may pressure individuals into leaving without fully understanding their legal options.
Why It Matters
The spike in DHS website traffic signals a measurable behavioral response to immigration enforcement policy. Increased engagement suggests that messaging around self-deportation is reaching its intended audience. In addition, it is influencing decision-making among those unlawfully present in the country.
Whether the program results in sustained reductions in illegal presence remains to be seen. However, the data shows one clear outcome: enforcement clarity drives compliance far more effectively than years of mixed signals and selective application of the law.
