The Topic
This episode is about what the video shows, what the press conference says, what politicians are claiming and what the public is being told to ignore. I reviewed multiple video angles and I will walk viewers through the sequence step by step, using a use of force lens that treats a vehicle used against an officer as deadly force. Based on what is visible in the footage I reviewed, I believe the shooting was self defense.
What Else?
We will also dig into the political response that came fast and loud. This is including the attempts to shift blame away from the driver’s actions and onto the agents who were present. We will address how we got here, how rhetoric about ICE escalates public tension. Also, what comes next if leaders keep treating federal law enforcement as the problem? Versus the reality, they are enforcing the laws that congress passed.
