A 31 year old Uzbek national wanted in his home country for alleged terrorism was arrested in Kansas after working as a commercial truck driver in the United States. The information was first reported by Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, who obtained confirmation from DHS.

Ties To Terrorism

According to DHS, the suspect, Akhror Bozorov, had an active arrest warrant in Uzbekistan dating back to 2022. Authorities there accuse him of belonging to a terrorist organization, distributing terrorist propaganda, calling for jihad online, and recruiting individuals for extremist activity.

Catch and release

Bozorov was encountered by Border Patrol and released into the country by the Biden administration in February 2023. He later received work authorization in January 2024 and was issued a commercial driver’s license by the state of Pennsylvania. ICE arrested him on November 9 while he was driving an 18 wheeler in Kansas.

A DHS official told Fox News that Bozorov should never have been allowed into the country, let alone licensed to operate a commercial truck. The official said that the administration’s border policies have allowed national security threats to enter the United States and noted that ICE has now been directed to prioritize arrests of high risk individuals.

Bozorov remains in federal custody pending removal proceedings.
