The Senate is heading into a decisive night as lawmakers prepare for a test vote to break a filibuster on the GOP’s revised spending package, a move that could finally bring the government shutdown to an end within days.

The Test Vote: Between 8 and 10 PM ET

The Senate is expected to hold the critical vote between 8 and 10 p.m. ET. This procedural motion would determine whether the upper chamber can advance the GOP plan to reopen the government through January 30, buying lawmakers time to pass individual appropriations bills. The package also includes full year funding for Agriculture, Veterans Affairs, Military Construction, and Congressional operations.

Sixty votes are required to overcome the filibuster. Republicans believe they can peel off enough Democratic and independent senators to cross the threshold, marking the clearest path to ending the 40 day shutdown.

Key Senators to Watch

According to Fox News reporting, several Democrats and independents are being closely watched, including Sens.
