The New York Post reported that a professional lip reader confirmed a quiet, off-mic conversation between President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama during Ethel Kennedy’s funeral. According to the lip reader, the private exchange went as follows:

Biden: “She’s not as strong as me”

Obama: “I know … that’s true, We have time.”

Biden: “Yeah, we’ll get it in time,”

Jeremy Freeman, a London-based forensic lip reader who was born deaf, translated the dialogue for The Post. For the past 16 years, Freeman has served as a University College London-certified expert witness, providing testimony in cases involving litigants, the police, and journalists.

Contrary to speculation, former President Obama and President Biden’s conversation did not focus on Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign challenges against former President Trump, according to Freeman. Instead, the discussion was described as “supportive” with “no tension” between the two leaders.
