The renowned musician Jim Morrison once stated, “Whoever controls the media, controls the mind.” This sentiment has been echoed by many over the years. It comes as no surprise that the liberal billionaire George Soros, known for his political activism and financial dealings, shares a similar view. Soros has been involved in a range of controversial activities, from funding district attorney campaigns to shorting the British pound and acquiring 18 radio stations ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
More recently, George Soros acquired a 40% stake in the debt of Audacy, the second-largest radio broadcaster in the United States after iHeartMedia. Audacy owns 227 major radio stations across 45 cities and 27 states. The company’s largest networks are found in prominent markets such as New York, Memphis, Chattanooga, Denver, Washington D.C., Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Baltimore, Wichita, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Richmond, and numerous other major cities in California and throughout the country.
The FCC bends a knee
A foreign-owned corporation’s purchase of US radio stations shortly before a presidential election raised concerns among many conservative observers about potential election interference from outside the country – a threat recently highlighted by the Department of Justice. In this situation, the FCC is expected to enforce its rule limiting foreign ownership of US radio stations to no more than 25 percent.
However, that is not the case. According to the New York Post:
“The FCC on Wednesday adopted an order to approve Soros’ purchase of 200 radio stations across 40 markets, sources told the New York Post. The commission’s three Democrats voted for the measure while the two Republican members voted against it.”

Disregarding their own long-standing protocol, the commission voted to expedite approval and bypass the mandatory National Security Review, a process that typically takes up to a year. This decision comes just over a month before the 2024 Presidential election.
Audacy’s portfolio includes several prominent conservative talk shows and commentators, such as Sean Hannity, Dana Loesch, Mark Levin, and Glenn Beck. The potential impact of this on the 2024 election outcome is unclear. However, the widespread suspicion surrounding Audacy’s acquisition and approval does not seem unfounded.
