Our social media manager was furloughed
Who, no really WHO, is the genius behind these White House social media videos. I want to know. I want the name. I want the face. I want to shake this person’s hand and ask them what level of caffeine and chaos they run on, because the stuff they produce is pure entertainment.
Take this one for example.
The video carries this perfect “from McDonalds to the White House” vibe. It feels like it was filmed in that exact moment when the ice cream machine finally worked. It hits. It really hits, even. With that late night on the couch with fast food energy that somehow fits right into modern politics.
And this is not the only one. They have pushed out a long line of these little masterpieces. Remember the shutdown video with the Sarah McLachlan song at the end. That thing had more emotional punch than most Hollywood movies. It was funny in a way that made you stop and appreciate the fact that someone inside the West Wing understands timing and irony.
Why Its Needed
Now I get it. The country has real issues on the table. Serious ones. There are people so inflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome that they would not laugh at anything connected to this administration. You can see it in the comments under the original Tik Tok post. It is a digital swamp of misery.
But here is what gets missed. Humor inside the White House matters. A sense of fun matters. A moment to breathe and laugh matters. It says something when an administration can take the job seriously without acting like every second of every day is the Cuban Missile Crisis.
All Levels of The Administration
JD Vance gets this. His sense of humor actually connects with human beings. These videos do the same thing. They remind people that behind all the policy work and the noise and the nonsense, there are actual people with actual personalities who are allowed to enjoy the absurdity of American politics.
So again I ask the only question that matters here.
Who is the genius.
Because whoever you are, keep going. The country needs the laugh more than you think.
