Scott Wiener, California’s favorite over-legislating busybody, is now running for Nancy Pelosi’s seat in Congress, and the D.C. progressives are drooling over him like he’s the second coming of Bernie Sanders in a better suit.

Let’s be honest, this isn’t about Pelosi “retiring.” It’s about the far-left cleaning house. They don’t want moderates, they want loyal foot soldiers who’ll rubber-stamp every ridiculous social experiment they can dream up. And Wiener? He’s their guy.

Meet Scott Wiener, the Progressive Golden Boy

Wiener represents San Francisco, which tells you plenty already. He’s built an entire career on “fixing” problems that didn’t exist until he wrote a bill about them. The progressive wing loves him because he’s willing to write laws that put government in your living room and apparently your kids’ doctor’s office too.

He’s so progressive the Progressive Voters Guide practically wrote him a love letter. They called him “bold” and “equity-driven.” Translation: he thinks the state should raise your kids while you sit quietly in the corner and pay taxes.

The Wiener Record – What He’s Done So Far

Here’s the highlight reel, the kind of legislation only a career politician could brag about.

SB 107 (2022)
California’s “gender affirming care sanctuary” law. It tells law enforcement they can ignore out-of-state custody orders or kidnapping reports if a parent brings their kid here for a gender transition. That’s right, a parent in another state could report their child missing, and California would shrug.

AB 957 (2023)
This gem tells judges to favor the parent who “affirms” a child’s gender identity during custody disputes. So if you believe your child isn’t ready to make permanent medical decisions, congratulations, the state says you’re the bad parent.

SB 407 (2023)
Foster families must fully “support” LGBTQ+ youth or lose eligibility. In plain English, if your faith or personal beliefs don’t line up with Sacramento’s ideology, forget fostering. The state would rather a kid rot in a group home than live with a family that simply disagrees.

AB 1955 (2024)
Schools can now hide a student’s gender identity or sexuality from parents. Because nothing says “trust in public education” like deliberately keeping secrets from mom and dad.

AB 665 (2023)
Allows kids as young as twelve to get mental-health care without parental consent. You raise them, you feed them, but you don’t get a say in their treatment.

SB 866 (2022)
This one failed, thankfully. It would have allowed minors to get vaccinated without telling their parents. But the fact that it was even proposed tells you where his compass points.

AB 495 (2025)
This bill allows non-parents to enroll kids in school and consent to medical care by signing a simple affidavit. It also tells schools and daycares to stay quiet about federal immigration enforcement. Bureaucrats first, parents last.

Pelosi’s Out, and the Progressives Are In

Two weeks ago, Wiener officially jumped into the race for Pelosi’s congressional seat. The timing says it all. Pelosi may have announced her “retirement,” but anyone paying attention knows this wasn’t her idea. The party moved left, way left, and she got shoved aside.

Now the activist wing runs the show. Schumer and Jeffries might still hold the microphones, but it’s AOC, Bernie, and the Twitter radicals writing the script. And Scott Wiener is exactly what they’re looking for, obedient, ideological, and reliably extreme.

The Bigger Picture

Wiener’s campaign isn’t just another California sideshow, it’s the national Democratic Party’s new playbook. The moderates are out, the radicals are in, and they want true believers running the country.

He’s the prototype, a politician who thinks parents are the problem, the state knows best, and bigger government fixes everything. He’ll win easily in that district, not because the voters want him, but because the machine does.

Scott Wiener doesn’t represent California values, he represents the death of them, replaced by a state that thinks freedom is something it gets to manage. And if the far-left has its way, that’s exactly what they’ll export to Washington next.
