Police in England are investigating a stabbing incident aboard a train bound for Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire that left multiple people injured on Saturday evening.
Verified Facts
According to the British Transport Police, officers responded to reports at approximately 7:39 p.m. local time of several people stabbed on a train traveling toward Huntingdon.
“We are currently responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed. Officers are in attendance alongside Cambridgeshire Police and two people have been arrested,” the BTP said in an official statement posted to X.
The rail operator London North Eastern Railway confirmed that all lines through Huntingdon station were closed following the incident and that significant service disruptions are expected.
Emergency medical personnel transported the injured to nearby hospitals. The number of victims and the severity of their injuries have not been officially released.
Unverified Reports
Witnesses who shared video clips on social media platforms described chaotic scenes inside the train, with passengers sheltering between cars. Several posts circulating on X claim as many as ten people were stabbed, though this figure has not been confirmed by police.
The suspects’ identities and motive remain unverified as of publication, and authorities have not indicated whether the attack was targeted or random.
Ongoing Investigation
The British Transport Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary are jointly investigating the incident. The BTP is asking witnesses or anyone with footage of the attack to contact investigators as they work to determine the cause and timeline of the violence.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a statement on X expressing gratitude to emergency responders, writing that his thoughts are with those injured in the Huntingdon train attack and their families.
