From the Department of ‘What the hell took you so long?’, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg finally admits the failure of his so-called ‘Fact Checkers’ by announcing that they’ll be ditched from the platform, opting instead for a system akin to X’s Community Notes. Clearly, Zuck has seen the writing on the wall with the community notes’ success, but let’s not be fooled—this isn’t some epiphany or moral overhaul. It’s a desperate bid to board the ‘freedom train’ as it’s about to leave the station of relevance. We shouldn’t forget, nor should we forgive, the years of censorship and silencing conservative voices that Zuckerberg’s regime enforced. And let’s not gloss over the egregiously biased ‘fact-checking’ during the COVID debacle, which was often proven to be baseless. This isn’t Zuckerberg finding his conscience; it’s just him trying to stay relevant by adapting to user demands while pretending it’s a noble pivot.
